Peachy game

Greetings from Lithuania.

"Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" (2015) is truly an amazing experience. Hands down this is one of the most addictive games i have played in a very long while. It has tons of action, sneaking, hiding, crouching and etc. Controls are amazing, information technology is non even deadening to run trough the open earth maps on your human foot. Graphics are gorgeous, game play is astonishing. Story was adept, simply since the simply Metal Gear game i have played before was 1st office (back in 1998), i didn't understood lots of characters, but that is non a problem, there are plenty of greatly voiced tapes which y'all can listen fifty-fifty during missions which are informative. I liked the extraction affair - genius. Mother base was too very cool thing, but i take 1 complaint. After collecting lots of stuff to female parent base like gun turrets, emplacement, tanks guns and so on, it kinda don't have whatsoever real payoff at female parent base except that security unit gets more than points. but that is it, information technology kinda useless to bring whole stuff upwardly there - or possibly i'one thousand wrong but at this point i'k completed 64% of game - i finished main story and i'm at about 82% of side missions simply however at that place was no outcome of bringing all stuff to mother base except soldiers. Anyway that is a minor complain. because everything else in this game rocks.

Overall, whether you have played just one Metal Gear Solid game earlier or none, The Phantom Pain" is a must play to everyone, because anybody will find here something he volition dearest. Smashing game, not the best ever, but bang-up one.

Metallic Gear Solid V was kinda solid. Information technology wasn't the best game in the series, but it was a fun game.

Warning: Spoilers

Adult by Kojima Productions, directed, designed, co-produced and co-written by Hideo Kojima, and published by Konami; this adventure stealth video game is the eleventh canonical and last installment in the Metal Gear series and the fifth within the series' chronology. It serves as a sequel to 2014's Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes & a prequel to the original Metal Gear game released in 1987. Set in 1984, the game follows the mercenary leader Big Boss AKA Punished "Venom" Snake (Voiced by Kiefer Sutherland) as he ventures into a new war during the Cold War to exact revenge on the people who destroyed his forces and came close to killing him during the climax of Ground Zeroes. Can Snake find the men that nearly killed him or volition the men that virtually destroy him, usher a new age from the ashes of the Cold War? Play the game to observe out! Without spoiling the game, also much, I take to say, I like the continuation of the narrative established in Basis Zeroes. I only wish information technology, it was just part of this game, rather than its ain separate game. Honestly, if you lot oasis't played, Ground Zeroes or whatsoever of the previous games, you will certainly become lost in this story. That's the truth. While, the overall story is pretty interesting, it still lacks the emotional powerful thematic elements compare to the other games. Merely wish it was a little more compelling. This is easily the darkest Metal Gear story withal so information technology could had work. The tale of Big Boss' face/heel plough covers some pretty heavy subjects, like race, revenge, kid soldiers, cold blooded torture, torso horror and rape. That existence said, at that place'due south withal enough of room for the series' trademark humor. It's not all gloomy. As much every bit critics hate Serenity (Voiced by Stefanie Joosten)'s comically oversexualized. I found her character curvation to exist, one of the better cinematic moments of the game. The whole sandstorm scene with her was pretty emotional. The rain scene not and then much. It was play, every bit a heartwarming moment, simply it comes across, as somewhat perverted. The twist toward the stop, was somewhat not every bit unexpected every bit it should be. Maybe, the overarching storyline does lose some focus. There were times, in the game, that I felt like, the story was trying way too hard to do shout outs than brand a well-made story. Honestly, did we really need to see Liquid Ophidian, here!? Equally much as I dearest some of the cinematic cutting-scenes, I merely glad, this game has the least amount of information technology. Sometimes, they do become a niggling as well long, for my taste. I practice similar how the game doesn't have a lot of exposition scenes. Those scenes, ordinarily kinda boring with the voice acting, not being the best. In this game, the voice interim is alright, but barely used. Kiefer Sutherland is meh. I kinda miss long-fourth dimension voice role player, David Hayter, instead. Past far, Troy Bakery equally Ocelot has the best moments in the game. Still, past far, the greatest thing about this game is the gameplay. The gameplay elements were largely unchanged from Ground Zeroes, meaning that players will have to sneak from several points in the game world, fugitive enemy guards, and remaining undetected. The big different, between this and the other games is that information technology's more than open world, meaning that you accept more freedom in how you lot consummate a mission than restrictive script format missions. I like that players may traverse the game globe with vehicles, in addition to traveling on foot or on horseback, or may also call for friendly helicopter for support or transport AI companions to sentinel a target area. I likewise dearest the game day-and-night cycle that runs in real-time. Weather condition effects, such as sandstorms and rain, as well bear upon the gameplay, making information technology a lot of easier or harder to sneak by enemies. Nonetheless, the open globe settling is very ho-hum, both visually and in terms of quality content in it, in that location is nil to observe, no fun encounters, at that place is so piddling interactivity and you're restricted to moving in between restrictive corridors, as yous get from outpost to outpost doing the same work, over and over. It feels incredibly artificial and somewhat repetitive, but it gets a little more challenging toward the terminate. A skillful example is if a actor frequently utilize particular weapons or tactics to subdue enemy soldiers. Hereafter enemy missions would adapted to your tactics, making information technology, harder to take a single efficient playstyle. The enemy AI has likewise improved in terms of situational awareness, just still, they do have some artificial stupidity. It's pretty odd, for them, not to hear the loud screaming of soldiers, being sent to Mother Base of operations for recruitment. That was pretty jarring. Nonetheless, I exercise like the idea, that y'all tin capture enemy soldiers, animals, and vehicles with the Fulton surface-to-air recovery system, in an attempt to grow your mother base. Existence able to have a base-edifice feature where players can develop weapons, explore the complex, and upgrade the base of operations's defenses and technology is pretty interesting. However, the menses weapons and bones military hardware of the 1980s mixed with futuristic technology was somewhat jolting. The game takes a lot of artistic license, when information technology comes to mixing the sci-fi, supernatural and realistic tones, together. I like how the game has numerous Moby-Dick, Lord of the Flies, 1984 and Bible references. Information technology works with its themes. For the game'south soundtrack, Donna Shush one time again, returns, to recorded cover songs. I do similar her version of 'Sin of the Fathers' but by far, the best cover songs here, are 'Nuclear' from Mike Oldfield & Midge Ure's comprehend of David Bowie's "The Human Who Sold the Globe". My least favorite song is Stefanie Joosten "Tranquility's Theme". I do like how the game now has, multiplayer. It's been a long time, coming. Overall: This game is an unpolished diamond. Good, but could had been bang-up.

AMAZING!

I know a lot of the hardcore fans had issues with this game, and I feel bad for them because I know how it feels when the developers have a sudden turn and exit y'all with something about unrecognizable from previous installments, but as a newcomer to the series, I LOVED this game...

I put 250+ hours into this game! I 100%'d it, did everything, fifty-fifty got the platinum trophy! I was enthralled with the sleek gameplay, simply I acknowledge the story was really uninteresting. But the gameplay was enough to completely enamor me!

Hideo Kojima is gaming's Stanley Kubrick.

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain is the penultimate journey in Hideo Kojima's classic saga; fifty-fifty though it'south a prequel in that location is a good bargain of surprises to exist institute in the story. The gameplay is zip brusk of phenomenal and there's then much attention to detail graphically and narratively speaking.

The Phantom Hurting is a gaming experience to exist remembered for generations to come. Its immersion for the players is unsurpassed, its atmosphere phenomenal, its story a bit sparse notwithstanding massive in scope and ambition. Hideo Kojima has made the 2001: A Space Odyssey of video games right here. In that location's endless subtexts throughout, visually and script-based, and that's excluding the ridiculously tense and terrifying outset of the game, where you're at a hospital in Cyprus, trying to escape certain expiry.

If y'all haven't played the game yet, please exercise so, and play the 'Day I Edition' on the PS4: the definitive version of this mod masterpiece.

Amazing gameplay. Disappointing Story.

This was 1 of my near anticipated game of this twelvemonth. The concluding chapter in the great MGS franchise, the missing link. Tin't tell you lot how excited I was when I finally got to play it. Information technology delivered on the game-play part perfectly, merely sadly information technology lacked in the story section.

First, the good thing about the game. The gameplay was just amazing. It was a masterfully executed open up globe game with full on proper stealth mechanics and I think it is first of its kind. We get two huge areas (Africa and Afghanistan) to explore and have fun in. The beauty of this game was that most any mission can be completed in several play styles. Lots of freedom and the options go along to increase when y'all open up new items and weapons and mechanics. Biggest new mechanic was the buddy system, where you go several companions over the course of the game that help you in various means. Mayhap you'll desire to get full stealth. Or go in guns blazing. Maybe you'll do a mix of both. Or merely call in support and let them do the dirty piece of work while yous smoke your cigar. The game did has its way of making you lot try your all-time to keep a full stealth play, proper tactical espionage.

The female parent base aspect of the game was also expanded from what nosotros got in Peace Walker. This time, yous tin can actually visit your base of operations and move around and meet it in getting developed slowly. And it has this wonderful feeling of accomplishment, seeing your difficult work in action. Knocking out enemies and using Fulton Recovery to recruit them for your base makes each mission more fun as you always have to consider the choice of either killing an enemy or go in for a more stealth play and effort to capture them. The game was really massive likewise.

Since I played it on a PS3, won't talk much nearly the graphics since I know the game doesn't look that good as compared to the next gen counter parts but even on the 9 year sometime motorcar, it ran pretty well, all things considered. The soundtrack of the game was pretty good as you would expect from an MGS game. Some great tracks here and at that place. Would accept loved information technology if they used the MGS series theme in some of import part.

Now, for the story. Well, The Phantom Pain continues the plot where Basis Zeroes left off. The blast and crash caused Big Dominate to go into a 9 yr coma. The game starts off with u.s.a. waking up in a infirmary. The whole opening chapter was but phenomenal, one of the best openings I have e'er played in a game. The game focuses on us (Big Dominate) trying to rebuild our costless military force and to take revenge on Skull Face.

At present, this game was showed and advertised every bit the missing link that volition bear witness Big Boss'southward decent into the other side, how he changes etc etc and was the main reason why I was and so pumped up to play it. Sadly, it failed to deliver on that hope. There was hardly annihilation regarding that in the game. All the awesome trailers we got depicting this epic tale were really misleading. MGS games accept always been famous for there thick and detailed cinematic story just oddly enough, this last part was really lacking in that department. The story itself was pretty slim to being with but add that with the length of the game and it just got stretched fashion too thin. Really horrible pacing. In that location were some awesome missions with memorable moments but they were very few and far between. The game besides concluded on a pretty disappointing part besides. It completes the cycle but in a way that makes yous become "That's it?".

Amid the things that I didn't liked were the opening and ending credits after EVERY missions. WTF was that all about. The opening credits particularly spoiled every mission by showing which character is appearing in it. A very poor determination. As well, Big Boss hardly talked in cutscenes. I liked Keifer Sutherland every bit the new voice for Large Boss and fitted really well to exist honest but what's the point of having a neat new vocalisation when yous hardly apply it.

That being said, its non like I hated the story or anything. If yous look it in a normal way, it is still a expert enough story for a game with amazing gameplay and makes the game equally a whole pretty worth your time. Merely the story was just sub-par for an MGS games, and disappoints even more since it was suppose to be the missing link and is the concluding MGS game past Kojima, completing the wheel of this decades long series.

All in all, its the weakest game in MGS serial for me only nevertheless the game was pretty smashing fifty-fifty with the story disappointments. The 53 hours I spent finishing it were fun, otherwise I would have non spent then much time in a game. Information technology'south but not GOTY material or the 10/10s it got critically. Overrated in that regard.

Cheerio MGS, all-time gaming franchise in the video game manufacture (That'southward not a trilogy). As far every bit the series go, this is how I would rank them: MGS4>MGS3>MGS2>Peace Walker>MGS5 (Haven't played MGS1. Aye yeah I know)

Please submit this time

Warning: Spoilers

This is the tertiary fourth dimension I will have tried to submit this. Lol. Anyways, and then I felt like this game was great in terms of game play and open world ness. You really can practise a whole lot of things in it that you would not actually be able to do in other Metal Gear games. For that I practice accept a lot of respect for it and I experience like most people should to. In terms of game play and the open globe experience and graphics, this is the best of the series. But the story is where it falters. Information technology honestly is the worst one when it comes to story. It is sort of non existent. It takes identify nine years later on Ground Zeroes, which was pretty much simply a span piece game more than annihilation else. The whole coma plot line as well as Huey really did not have me interested at all. The bit with Liquid Serpent was interesting but again, just didn't really get my interest all that much. I don't really heed Sutherland doing the voice. Later all, it seemed like Hayter was getting tired of the role. That I am able to bargain with. Merely this game actually felt similar information technology did non need to be around. It was besides long, fifty-fifty for Metallic Gear standards and the merely thing that really gets to me is Venom Ophidian, which was a cool plot line.

Best Gameplay Ever

Warning: Spoilers

Despite non understanding what was going on most of the time with the story, MGSV: TPP compensates past having some of the best gameplay (if not the best) I have ever encountered. This game is and then, so much fun to play and, personally never got old.

I hated everything with the Skulls, I think it ruined those parts of the game and I think this game would be much better off without all the Man on Fire, skulls stuff.

I must say I did not finish the game, purely out of frustration and considering I am non going to replay the same missions, but now in Farthermost Mode. I call up having to replay these missions to unlock the next is a huge detriment to the game and is the #i reason why I am done with it. I call back when I passed the Metalllic Archae mission and how happy I felt that stupid mission was over. I hated it the offset time. Hated it even more the 2d time. So, the hell with this game.

And fifty-fifty though I did not stop information technology, I rate it and so highly because of the gameplay, the way the game rewards player's intelligence constantly (except for the skulls missions) and just how crawly information technology is. But seriously, I hate the Skulls.

What the hell happened ! How....HOW ! Afterward Guns of the Patriots and Revengeance ! HOW KOJIMA !

Warning: Spoilers

I don't even know where to begin. Never in a one thousand thousand years did I look a franchise that gave usa the amazing Guns of the Patriots and ballsy Revengence could take SUCH a turn for the worse.

My encephalon... my optics...my very soul is being torn apart by but thinking about playing i more second later the 17 hours I put into this. Something I deeply regret.

I just don't get it. Friends tell me its AMAZING.Even Angry Joe rated it a nine out of 10.

People proceed saying the story isn't too skilful just the game play is amazing. Totally a Game of the year contender.

Like... am I missing something? Does everybody know something I don't ?

This is my experience with this game and why I can already say, if you're a fan male child you may wanna stop reading because I really don't like this game and Im nearly to say a lot of bad things about it. So just downwardly vote this review and move on similar almost of you guys do because you're but wasting your time reading.

The opening had me getting quite hyped simply after that and I saw the actual game play... thats where everything only went downhill for another 17 hours. The Shooting is good. But everything else is just meh. The world is empty and shallow. Nothing is ever happening. The open world is full of restrictions and not very large at all. Afterwards Afghanistan you move to Africa and that zone is Fifty-fifty smaller .

At present that is something I can overlook. Only what I cannot forgive and never will on pinnacle of a wearisome lifeless world, cut content and annoying ly many loading screens and credits rolling afterwards each missions (Which is cool the outset time simply then information technology becomes a drag) is something that can break any game for a gamer who expects more than from their game.

Repetitive, slow, linear and RECYCLED game play and mission design.

There are some 5000 missions in this or any. and ninety% of those are about finding some dude...and extracting him/killing him. Over...and over.

And its NOT just side missions. Its the main missions besides. And on top of that such a affair could exist forgiven if there was more story and bear upon to it... but that is not the case when you visit the SAME areas over...and over...and over...and over. On the same missions with the same objective with only a minor change to information technology.

I echo: You will visit the same areas on in this tiny, pathetic and lackluster sandbox of a world Frequently. Yous volition complete the aforementioned missions several times. Its an utter game breaker for me.

Never have I seen such lazy game design from an alleged Tripple A programmer/publisher. Non even Battlefront is this lazy in its development. You got nine modes and several maps at that place. But in This game... y'all will consummate one out of 3 missions for pretty much 99 % of the time. Extract a guy...kill a guy (who you an extract besides actually for a bonus which figures) or steal some info...WHICH typically leads to finding bonus stuff which...YUP yous guessed information technology... is near extracting 2-3 guys.

Thats your game. threescore bucks please. Boss fights are insanely lackluster. Don't play Guns of the patriots or games like that and expect anything of that caliber here.

And then there are the Motherbase. Jesus Christ. The nigh pointless feature in the unabridged game. Its as if they planned a LOT for it but ran out of budget. Much alike Ride to Hell retribution (Yes, fan boys. I only compared your game to Ride to Hell. You heard me right)

Everything is airtight shut. The distance from the centre to the various sections is INSANELY long as if Kojima wanted to mess with us. Guess what, Kojima. Not funny. Non fifty-fifty remotely.

And you go on being sent back to this god forsaken pointless female parent base over and over. For some 2-iii minute dialog sections just to be sent straight back to this empty desert sandbox to slam your head against the wall some more.

Recycled, repetitive, cheap and lazy game design with good shooter elements and lacking story. The game is boring and only a minority of elements save it from a worse score.

I'll never empathise what Kojima or Konami were thinking. And if Kojima always were to read this I'd like to enquire you a question. Did you brand this game so bad on purpose every bit a final way to stand up to Konami ? Or did you lose your mind during this evolution cycle?

This game is NOT a GOTY contender. just because its metal gear does non hateful it deserves a free pass.

This is almost as generic and lazy every bit game designs become. But similar Battlefront. Just because Kojima had issues with Konami does not mean we are to forgive this kind of lackluster game blueprint.

This is ane of the worst games I accept ever played.

I strongly recommend if y'all want a MGS experience of epic caliber. Buy Guns of the patriots. Information technology'southward the amend game by a LONG shot.

Phantom pain is as its title implies. Its a pain in the ... well... I'll let y'all figure that one out yourself.

Stay away from this. I don't fifty-fifty recommend yous choice it upwardly on discount. Unless you like running around in an empty and boring desert killing generic Russians all mean solar day long who say the EXACT same things over... and over...and over... THE WHOLE GAME... I truly do not recommend yous ever play this.

I am across disappointed and furious due to wasting money on this.

GG Kojima. "sigh"

Legendary

Warning: Spoilers

This game is a PS4 masterpiece, the best in the series in terms of gameplay/mechanics, genius variety of controls and choices, the base of operations building and recruting is complicated and fun, which gives the multiplayer the meaning it needs, the intro is the best I've always seen in a video game, the smart/shocking plot twost catastrophe makes you relise the greatness of this game and information technology's plot, the characters, bossfights, soundtrack were all badass and corking, non to mention the cassette dialog, long but never bored of it, chapter 2 had some reptitive missions every bit an error that should've not happened.

Alittle Overrated??

Pros:

  • Great diverse Gameplay
  • Useful companions
  • Smashing graphics, voice acting, animation
  • Tons of customisation
  • Interesting plot twist (that makes sense)

Cons:

  • Tons of padding in campaign
  • Open world is kinda lifeless
  • Limited variation in missions
  • Ho-hum principal villain
  • Most boss fights aren't that groovy
  • Lack of MGS quirkiness and heart
  • Online is an afterthought

Verdict: Tons and tons of reviews give this a ten/10, greatest game of all time. Overrated IMO thou still an enjoyable game, but with just destine of unnecessary padding and lack of fundamental elements that fabricated the other MGS games great.

Kojima-san is a genius!!!!

Warning: Spoilers

I got this game because I hugely enjoyed the previous entry (which was more than of a preview) and acquired the gustation. As a long time gamer, MGS5 will turn out much much much much more than you would expect and what you're to feel here can only be described as epic.

Hands the all-time action game I have ever played. This earth is and so rich and missions take so many variations, I could play it for a month at to the lowest degree. MGS5 truly deserves the high rating information technology has.

Hideo Kojima outdid himself with this one. A perfect game!!!

Tin can't wait for his next. I am now a large fan.

Hither's to you, Kojima-san.

Fine art fabricated Fun

There are times in the history of video games where nosotros as gamers come to question which is the greater mission of video games every bit a media, to simply exist the fun electronic toys that many grew up with or to effort to grow further every bit an creative medium. This isn't such an easy question to answer, no matter how much I would like information technology to be.

I desire the medium to evolve and grow as long as I do myself, every day I get older and I desire a niggling bit more than to encounter something special in the medium and at this point I believe that saying that technology is holding back the artists from doing exactly what they want to practice is a falsity.

Just all at the same time video games, in the same vain every bit film, started off as brusque and unproblematic things that were simply made to be momentarily fun for their audiences. Mario 1-1 will always be held up higher compared to nearly every other game level ever because it is so good at being fun, there is no story to be plant hither and there shouldn't be but it is perfect.

At present this constitutional isn't too removed from the game of The Phantom Pain because this game really pulls in both directions and in a big mode these as well things, existence fun and being an artistic expression of the grade are at war with each other in this game.

On the surface the ii seem to work together because the gameplay is very well tuned and enjoyable to play around with and by using that gameplay to your advantage you can create or move yourself towards a plot related moment and movement the plot along. But thats where the contradiction lies. The game makes you out to be this man (or woman if you switch up the graphic symbol at the select) that is all there and competent as a soldier under fire. In the narrative however you are meant to be feeling a disconnect, that the character of Big Dominate is beginning to switch from the protagonist to the antagonist of the series and in cutting scenes you see the moral and mental desegregation of the grapheme in what he is willing to do. But after all of that he'll get back on the chopper and go out to complete some other batch of missions without whatsoever hang ups in the gameplay.

Forth with that there are these moments where something very not Metal Gear will happen or be introduced similar the online functionality and the sharp ending without wrapping up the plot lines properly. These are areas that Konomi'south corporate fingerprints are all over, and I wouldn't be then harsh on information technology if it were non for the fact that the game was almost guaranteed a profit by proper name recognition alone and milking the fans for money and cutting content from this game before launch feels entirely disrespectful for a fanbase intent on finding connections and building theories for over two decades and e'er more of a disrespect to the people making the games who have put years of their lives into creating them for that reason.

In the terminate though it is a Metal Gear game, the story is more than grounded and less flamboyant and information technology works to brand the less heavy narrative still experience of import to the universe and the gameplay is superb and is a revolution to the stealth game genre. Its a smashing game, but what makes this game feel a little disappointing is that you can see a perfect game existence cut down to greatness by an unfeeling company.

This is a GOTY contender?!!! What the hell!!!

Alarm: Spoilers

MGSV TPP begins 9 years later after the events of GZ, every bit Big Boss (now Venom Serpent) reawakens after his 9 year coma and escapes the infirmary he was taken intendance of when XOF forces assault, including Quiet, the mute sniper we encounter later in the game, the psychic Tretij Rebenok (immature Psycho Mantis) and the Man On Fire (reanimated Volgin now with fire powers). Snake is aided past the mysterious Ishmael and Revolver Ocelot, his fr-enemy from the previous games in what is easily downward the best opening affiliate for any game. Information technology is nail biting tense and sadly the rest of the game doesn't match up particularly afterward Episode ii which is after you rescue Miller and proceed a vengeance style by Fulton extracting soldiers and upgrading your Mother Base. The story feels like information technology was fabricated up alongside the game play and no one objected Kojima's decisions in the writing and editing section. Considering the story missions feel like stand lone chapters with no mutual thread, yous don't even know what happened to the primary objective later. "The life and times at Female parent Base" if I may. Nothing makes sense and the ending throws more plot holes than resolving them (too much of retcon) and the story and game feel incomplete (Episode 51 anyone? and where is chapter 3: Peace?), which is a shame because this is (or may exist?) the last Metal Gear game directed past Kojima.

And by the way Quiet is not even important to the story (you can choose not to meet her at all or kill her after the boss battle and if you relieve her she will die subsequently chapter forty or 41). And episode 46? never mind... and Skull Face up is such a lame villain that he doesn't get a boss fight. Catamenia.

But the game does accept its shining moments. The game play is a successor to GZ with many enhancements. Yous can run, crouch and crawl and apply stealth or full on assault (or mix them up) to complete your objectives.

The iconic cardboard box returns as the ultimate stealth tool with a few improvements. For case yous can now stand up and run and crawl when within the cardboard box, flare-up out and aim and shoot or do your CQC and yous can even attach posters which accept different hilarious responses by the enemy.

You can also enhance Snake's prosthetic hand with diverse capabilities like a sonar detector, rocket launcher wrist and upgradeable bombardment to stupor enemies and knock them out. As well present is the gun customization option where you can create your own custom guns.

The enemy AI is brilliant and they Will give yous a difficult fourth dimension. Additionally the day-nighttime cycle and weather condition system touch on y'all and the enemies as well making infiltration easy or difficult.

You can Fulton excerpt every single enemy and assign them in various teams, animate being/bird/insects for your own personal zoo, materials containers, vehicles and tanks for you to sell or apply, this gives you various upgrades and advantages. For example my Intel team, when leveled up would give me early warnings about enemy FOM (field of motility) nearby and atmospheric condition changes allowing me to plan my adjacent moves hands.

But the biggest game play changer is the Buddy system, where you can have i of the four "Buddies" assist you in story missions or side ops or merely free roaming. The buddies are really helpful (Quiet is a buddy too) and requite you many advantages in the battleground. One my "buddies" is D-Dog and he is the best!!! He tin can smell out enemies, animals and plants, marker them out for yous, bark to distract enemies or outright kill them too.

The graphics are seriously good and the draw distance is amazing. The game is a perfect PC port and runs smoothly on my 4GB RAM and i5 processor (I am playing this on High settings). The soundtrack by Ludvig Forswell is amazing and suits the game. The vocalisation acting is height notch and Troy Baker is the best of the whole bunch equally Revolver Ocelot. Kiefer Sutherland IS Large Boss/Venom Serpent, but he rarely talks. But it is the game play where the game truly shines.

Sadly while the game play is cracking, the open earth is not. Information technology is barren and empty and in that location is nothing much to exercise after Fultoning or destroying everything. Wild animals rarely appear and in that location are no opposing forces other than you (even MGS4 had it better with an ongoing war despite non beingness open earth)and not even whatever civilians around. There is barely any difference betwixt most of the story missions and the side ops. And the vehicle controls are bad and seem more like and after thought. You cannot ride a helicopter and there are no motorcycles, only jeeps, trucks and tanks. Ophidian cannot swim and in that location are no boats or ships.

Oh and the boss battles fall way brusque. Its not that these fights are bad, they tin can get pretty tough especially the Skulls unit, just if you are expecting another Psycho Mantis (missed opportunity here), Laughing Octopus, The Finish, The Boss (you get what I hateful), you will exist disappointed.

To summarize, while there is a peachy prologue affiliate, great game play, quirky enemy AI, great graphics and soundtrack; the repetitive mission construction (fulton excerpt everyone and chapter ii is a mess), a barren open up world, tough-but-non-ballsy boss fights and a bad story which creates more than plot holes hold it dorsum and you truly feel the phantom pain what could accept been...

Great game, terrible story

Alarm: Spoilers

Afterwards the massive apprehension of Hideo Kojimas final Metallic Gear entry you could be excused for existence too excited to justify, but after finishing this game you'll wonder why y'all bothered, the gameplay itself is excellent only the story is terrible, for whatever other serial this would be excusable merely for a series that prides itself on narrative it only is not practiced plenty, if my review was based soley on gameplay it would exist an easy x/10, just if this was a movie and I was rating the story and pacing, 3/10 at best hence my score of 7 which I feel is justified here, the x/10 reviews were conspicuously not from anyone who played the entire game, information technology is an unfinished mess with nice gameplay to recoup, RIP Metal Gear Solid, we all wish information technology could have ended better than this.

A sad cease to a groovy legacy

And no the title isn't referring to the story.

At that place isn't much of a story, different previous metal gear games. It's a few cutscenes that don't do much, lots of cassettes that don't do much and a lot of cut content.

Gameplay though, fantastic! Addictive and varied. There's lots to observe here and that'south why I played it for hours on end. That'due south why it gets v* instead of none. Information technology felt skilful to sneak, fight and upgrade everything.

That said, they ruined metal gear online, the previous version with mgs4 was amazing and had a strong fan base, the new one was a inexpensive cod copy and suffered because of it.

Invading other players bases was fun merely not as involved or captivating.

Fact is, they ruined this game past firing kojima and releasing it unfinished. I will resent them for that, because it had all the potential to be the best game ever, and instead wasn't even half the game I wanted. Real shame.

Yous want mgs? Go play 1,2,3,4 and rising. Get out this ane solitary.

Best plot twist ever

Warning: Spoilers

The final game, the conclusion to Large Bosses storyline and Kojimas final Metallic gear, with probably the most controversial terminal twist ever. Lets run into how it went.

Outset off I have to say, that the game has this extremely nice vibe, that just few songs can capture more than, than Midge Ures "The human being who sold the world" cover. People complained about Snakes talkativness, although Hayters Large Dominate and Solid Snake always had something to say, Venom is a dissimilar person, so information technology kinda makes sense.

Story - The story itself is amazing and gripping, merely the game has some pacing issues and it sometimes feels empty, its little bit overconfident in its gameplay fullfilness, less sometimes equals more and here it shows. If im e'er gonna replay this game purely from Metal gear perspective, I might just skip few missions, watch some of the of import cutscenes in them and move onto the 20th mission and rest of the game. I actually didnt want to believe it, simply it picked up the step and finally caught me in. But lets confront it, the story was not that amazing, it was definetly above average just because its lore, but what justifies and ultimately saves it, is the masterpiece of a final twist and probably my favorite in the unabridged gaming industry so far. Its and then genius and I just love it. Even more, when you lot notice how many hints at that place were, that you are non the real Big Dominate. Now the bad function, if you idea, that inclusion of Evas cleavage in third one leading to her pants was bad, you havent seen Tranquility. I feel like she was there just for coomers and zippo else. Its a shame, considering if she was just dressed normally and the devs didnt focus on showing off her tits and ass in every shot, but actually focused on her personality, it mightve been actually good graphic symbol. Overall I dont like her.

Gameplay - Together with MGS4, this is the peak of gaming. The gameplay is perfect. Those repetetive missions Ive mentioned earlier? It doesnt even matter that much, because its that expert. I may be the simply 1, that thinks that actually.

I honey having an option of playing songs from that fourth dimension whenever I tin can, atleast information technology continues the legacy of the Ipod from the MGS4, simply now it is fifty-fifty better. Even tho the open up world is refreshing, the game shines when it takes more linear approach to an objective, that open up world is worse, but the linear side of this game is just tad bit better.

Coomer Quiet, the blank and few major reveals off the main story line, that are just role of the side ops these are the problems, that rid this game.

I still honey this game, it will at the elevation of gaming with one of the best gameplays and soundtracks Ive ever experienced and i the all-time with post game content. Its so fortunate, that it is i of those games yous would enjoy even if it havent had whatsoever story at all, so the story low-cal missions was not that large of a problem as it would be in other game + y'all can kill Repose, but I dont know if the true ending can be unlocked after that, since you will probably lose all your the yellowish tapes almost her (Ill still smash that bitch in my next playthrough *wink). It is the best unfinished game I accept always played and its a pity, because i just cant get enough of it and I desire information technology to be ameliorate.

8/x.

MOST BORING Open up WORLD GAME

Was extremely excited about this game, i read amazing reviews about it and how it is worth picking up, plant out it is a big large big disappointment. Kickoff of all this does non even feel like an open up world game, there is zero to explore, the earth is empty, the story is terrible, all you do in this game is excerpt/kill a person from an outpost basically the same mission every time. Would not recommend information technology, this game is a joke. GOTY? Y'all guys were dreaming. Waste of money.

Bright game with some flaws.

Alarm: Spoilers

This is the simply Metallic Gear game I have played and I liked story and gameplay and most interesting is the full customization of weapons and armor. I really liked the storyline. Merely there are few things that are dislikable. First, is the time taken past helicopter to choice and drib. Some other problem I faced that extremely high weapons were unlocked when R&D team is at lvl50+, simply I have finished whole game and even so, R&D team is at lvl40 and I didn't find any legendary soldiers on the field. So I never get to apply those weapons. Also, there are some questions left unanswered like where did Eli become? How did tertiary child gain his powers?

All-time gameplay mechanix always devised

Yeah, the story is weak - non because of Kojima simply konami'due south bs moves against him - only, that aside, the game mechanics, depth of play options, and fluidity of controls will never exist topped...

unless, of course, death stranding lives upwardly to it'south hype - then i might need to revise this review...

Uhh... Did I just play the aforementioned game as anybody else?

Alarm: Spoilers

How the hell did this game get such a loftier rating? Coming from a long time MGS thespian, I am highly disappointed! Let'due south start from the beginning. The prologue of the game is nigh an 60 minutes long and is easily downward, the best prologue I've played in any video game. Such a gripping, intense, almost horror like feel to it, with a surprise Psycho Mantis appearance. I was beyond hyped for the residual of the game. And then the credits rolled? In that location are fifty main missions in this game (36 excluding the Subsitance missions) and 150 side missions. Each with their own opening and closing credits which is the second virtually annoying matter in the game. This game sounds pretty awesome so far though correct? Amazing beginning, beautiful graphics, great controls, an open world with tons of side missions to exercise... you go the indicate, the game really hooks you lot in in the offset. About thirty of the MAIN STORY MISSIONS are exactly the same concepts and tasks as every unmarried SIDE mission. Run into that fortress? Break in, extract this guy, be forced to go back to female parent base for a little iii minute cutscene, roll credits. Next mission: see that base of operations camp over there? Infiltrate and excerpt this guy. Then get back to female parent base for a piffling cutscene, gyre credits. Oh yous want to do a side mission? Cool, infiltrate this camp and extract this guy, he'south super important, curlicue credits. One of the outset things I didnt like right off the bat was that there is no wellness bar. They chose to make your "health" similar a Call of Duty game and turn the screen redder until y'all dice. The game has next to no storyline, relieve for a scattering of missions, and even those aren't impressive whatsoever. At that place are no "boss fights" except for the final mission. There are a few missions (including the final boss) that are all out state of war against some impossible enemies. Going dorsum to Mother Base of operations, hands the most annoying and ho-hum role of this game. Everyone in the game acts similar it's so important to upgrade the place, to defend against people who will attack it (I had exactly one attack and that was story related). If your gone for too long "staff morale" goes down and they start getting into fights with one another. Whoop Dee exercise. 2 people are in the sick bay now but I have to transport 80 people to do this other mission and I expect to lose 40% of them, two people doesn't really make an impact when you have literal hundreds who follow yous. Skull Face is the chief bad guy in this game. With a name like Skull Face you'd call up he'd exist pretty bad ass right? Wrong. You spend the entire game chasing later on him and in the cease yous dont fifty-fifty fight him! He dies later Dominate takes a long and tiresome auto ride with him. And why is something like Sahelanthropus in this game?? In the original MGS, Metal Gear Rex was a quantum technological feat. How does King stand up to Sahelanthropus which was created in the lxxx'southward? Stupid. The ending of the game was pretty decent. I didnt see the Big Boss doppleganger twist coming until about 20 min before they actually revealed it. And since they went THAT route I'chiliad kinda just pissed off more because now information technology turns out I wasn't fifty-fifty playing as the real Big Boss the whole game. Guys in the finish, this wasn't actually that great of a game storywise, which is what MG has been for the past thirty+ years. Information technology seems like Kojima was more focused on the gameplay rather than the story hes been telling for xxx+ years. This whole game is basically well-nigh explaining why Big Boss showed up at the very end of MGS4. And that didnt even actually NEED to happen, which begs the question: Why is this twoscore+ hr game even needed if you merely wanted to tell a couple hours worth of story? If Kojima just stretched the story of the infirmary, say a 15 60 minutes game where Psycho Mantis is the main enemy, have the real Big Dominate be your sidekick the whole game and and so end it the aforementioned mode the real hospital sequence ends, it would have been a better game than The Phantom Pain.

Uhh... Did I but play the same game as anybody else??

Alert: Spoilers

Don't get me wrong, this game was super fun to play. Great controls, keen enemy AI, and very helpful "buddies". The problem with this game is it is SUPER repetitive, with Cipher payoff. Allow'southward start from the outset.

The opening prologue is about an hr long and is honestly one of the best prologue missions I have ever played. The creepy and desperate escape from a hospital that is being overrun past men with guns, and you simply woke upwardly from a coma. Information technology sets upwards the game very nicely with a huge promise of being an amazing game.

The problems come direct later the prologue. What follows is thirty+ hours of a vast, wearisome open world, and perchance 30 minutes of good storytelling. With more than lensflare than even JJ Abrams would cartel use, and cut scenes that are allergic to the characters faces and just focuses on there bodies (especially Quiet), Hideo Kojima completely failed at his final (for now) attempt at an MGS game.

The so-called Chief Missions, are nix more than Side Missions 90% of the time. Here'south a quick recap of every Main Mission except 4 or v of them. Take an unskippable ii minute helicopter ride to the location, while watching opening credits(?) that spoil anyone special who is going to bear witness up in this particular mission, then head for the objective. See that enemy campsite there? Sneak in and extract this guy, he can help us in some pocket-size fashion. Okay come up back to Mother Base for a 3 minute pointless cutscene, and so caput correct back to Afghanistan. Coil CREDITS! Not kidding, EVERY. Single. MISSION. has in that location ain opening and closing credits for whatever reason! You tin can skip the closing ones, but honestly what is the bespeak in putting them in there?

Mother Base is also a behemothic waste of time. Everyone says it'south so important to return there to "boost staff morale", and if you lot don't, fighting will break out amidst the staff. You can besides send your men to practise other missions (online and off). So tell me, what do I care that 2 people got into a scuffle and are now in the Med Bay, but I just sent 80 crew members to practise one mission and the expected loss charge per unit is twoscore%? Pointless. Also you Take to upgrade the base just to unlock a couple story missions (afterward in the game), and (SURPRISE, SURPRISE) those missions are pointless, except for one (Quiet's story epilogue).

Despite being a stealth game, at that place are at least ii missions that are non optional, full diddled, all out war, and ane of those missions is the final boss fight. Nevermind the primary villian of the game, he died a lame decease in the terminal chapter. Now you have to worry about an eighty pes tall Metal Gear Rex codename Sahelanthropus. This matter just obliterated an unabridged armies worth of tanks and helicopters, y'all better become your rocket launcher fix. Did I mention that this game takes place in the fourscore's? Fashion before the original MGS and it's own Earth-changing Metallic Gear King. How is a x foot tall walking state of war machine such a big deal when yous had an 80 foot tall walking nation destroyer almost 20 years before?

Then comes the endgame missions. Another virus outbreak on Mother Base, Large Dominate has to go inside and eliminate the threat, which is every soldier in the place. Very good mission, albiet heartbreaking and disturbing. Tranquility decides to speak English and (presumably) leaves to dice in peace. Even though she spoke English right in front of Big Boss so the virus should accept spread to him. Just information technology didn't. Somehow. And the final mission you learn the truth about what happened at the hospital.

The big twist of the game is that an avatar you created in the offset of the game, is actually who you have been playing as. The doctors changed your face into Big Bosses instead of Big Boss almost getting his face changed into the avatar yous created. Meanwhile the real Big Boss (codename Ishmael) helps y'all escape, but and so seemingly is shot while driving. The auto crashes, but the existent Big Boss walks abroad basically unscathed, and he leaves to discover Nil and meet up with Snake years later on during the Patriots deed. A very prissy twist that ties into MGS and likewise further explains the ending of MGS 4.

In the end, this game is nothing more simply 30+ hours of filler merely to tell maybe two hours of the actual story. I wish Hideo Kojima would have fabricated Ground Zeroes then just elongated the hospital level and fabricated perchance a 10 hour singular game out of both of those storylines. It would have been more fun story wise and gameplay wise to escape and fight dorsum against Psycho Mantis in the hospital setting and merely completely forget well-nigh building upwards Mother Base and defeating Skull Face/Sahelanthropus.
